After the long lines at the border from Israel, interrogations, eye scans, security checkpoints, exit/entry fees and passport stamps I finally found my way into the kingdom of Jordan. Completing my quest of 30before30 in the amazing “rose city” Petra was cause of celebration, a picture on a camel in front of the Treasury was mandatory. One of the seven wonders of the world, Petra is nestled in the desert with jaw dropping rock formations and temple ruins.
During the two hours drive from the border, I was at my window seat camera in hand captivated by the landscape. The desert glistened in the midday sun along with the enormous rock formations demanding all attention. We passed many little Bedouin villages, shepherds leading their flocks, dogs running after kids and donkeys sniffing the air. Arriving at the site, we got our tickets and begun the walk through the city. We Ended the amazing journey with a traditional Jordanian lunch at a restaurant along with good company. The guides with horse carriages, camels kept offering their services for rides instead of walking. Hey “brown sugar”, hey “I like your hair”, “you want to ride the camel?”, “hey I can show you a better view from the mountains brown sugar” So if you are rich in melanin the brown sugar comments are to be expected 🙂
