A couple months prior I had applied for a job overseas but had not heard anything for a long time. But then they started an email process at full speed, phone calls, paperwork to submit, physicals, passports and a date to report to work. In a very short time I had to get a lot done and move across the ocean to a new country. As a single young woman, there was nothing holding me back from embracing this opportunity. I would be working in the same field as I previously was, the only difference was that I’d be four thousand miles away;away from family and be on my own. Growing up in a Haitian household, and being a girl, well that was definitely a new direction to go in. Everyone knowing that I’m Haitian always ask how did my parents take that decision? But it was one of things I could not pass up. Working with a special kind of population, having the chance to travel more were reasons enough to take the leap.
